TESTS SHOW NORMAL LEVELS OF HEAVY METALS IN VILLAGERS CLOSE TO NEWMONT MINE

May 11, 2005 - By Associated Press
JAKARTA, Indonesia - Indonesian government health tests show heavy metal
traces in villagers living close to a U.S.-owned gold mine in Indonesia are
within normal levels, but higher than those living far from the facility.

Denver-based Newmont Mining Corp claimed the survey proved that it did not
cause the health problems suffered by residents close to the mine on
Indonesia's Sulawesi Island and said it hoped it would help in its legal
battles.

The study is the latest to produce conflicting results regarding alleged
pollution from the mine, which is at the center of a bitter dispute between
its owners, Newmont and the Indonesian government.

The company's local unit, PT Newmont Minahasa Raya, is being sued by the
government for the equivalent of US$133.6 million (euro103 million) for
allegedly polluting the bay.

Prosecutors are also planning to file criminal charges against six company
employees -- an American, an Australian and three Indonesians -- stemming
from the alleged pollution, which reportedly caused residents to develop
skin diseases and tumors.

A health ministry audit of 156 villagers living close to the bay showed that
levels of arsenic, mercury and antimony were within "tolerable levels",
according to a summary of the survey faxed to The Associated Press
Wednesday.

The levels were slightly higher than villagers that were outside the mine
area and tested as a control, the survey found. The survey, which did not
attempt to prove whether there was a link between the alleged pollution and
villagers health, did not explain the discrepancy.

"The pollution allegations not only hurt local people, they saw six Newmont
workers put in jail," Newmont said in a statement. "We hope this report
helps clear their names and stops the suffering for them and their
families."

Indonesian environmental group Wahli claimed the sample was too small to
produce meaningful results.

A string of earlier tests on the bay and its residents have produced
conflicting results.

Newmont has admitted it had released 17 tons of waste mercury into the air
and 16 tons into the water over five years, though it said the toxic
releases were far below Indonesian emissions standards.

Newmont stopped mining at the Sulawesi site two years ago, but processed ore
there until Aug. 31.

NOTE
Just like in Australia in the 250 Billions (now) Telfer Mine Swindle,
Newmont is at it again, murdering people !!!

Remember brave Corporate Mining Prospector Bert Rutherford who denounced the
Newmont / BHP / BORAL 's wheeling & dealings in the Great Sandy Desert,
where 2 smoke screen BORAL controlled companies were used to swindle
Australia Mining Pïoneer, Sir Jean-Paul Turcaud ! Which companies soon after
proving the 2400 square km extraodinary rich prospect at a cost of $ 800
000 "passed on" the show to the Newmont / Newcrest / BHP comperes,
pretending investigation were negatives and this for the incredible price of
15,000 $ ! After doing this they scuttled themselves. The matter was brought
to the attention of late WA Attorney General T.D. Evans who thanks to CIB
personal contacts learnt the right story of the millions paid underhand to
BORAL Directors and to Sir Corrupt Court the then WA Premier ( the origin of
the Court's Criminal fortune ! )
Both Bert Rutherford & Attorney General Evans were murdered by Newmont
through pushing them to despair, and Sir Turcaud was kicked out of the Land
by the Mining Criminals ' Political accomplices ! Narrowly escaping same
fate !!!
Of course the Royal Inquiry in the Newmont / Newcrest / BHP / WMC / BORAL
never took place since the millions of dollars of prebends paid by the
Criminals to the Corrupt to the core Australian Political Class took care of
that indeed .... and further the more Sir Turcaud was never allowed to
return to the visit the Mining Richness & the town he put on the map of
Australia : Telfer Mine indeed !

Important though, unlike in Australia it appears the Indonesian Leaders have
a different genetic background, not being infected by that infamous
Australian Criminal Convict Strain ! That gene has been present ever since
the establishment of the Convicts Colony, and is behind the present 3 moral
standards of all Australian Parliaments :
1) GRAB & RUN
2) NEVER DUB A MATE
3) WHEN CONVINCED DENY
with the 2 pillars of Australian Wisdom propping the against Natural Laws
Hideous & Evil Quickbuck Makeshift
to wit GREED & CORRUPTION

Hence the terrible Divine Drudging Drought sent by the Our Almighty &
Loving Creator as a Collective Punishment to such a depraved Country,
Australia, supporting unabashed such atrocious Mining Criminals as Newmont
Mining Corporation !!! ... and supporting indeed both the Collective Crime &
Collective Cover Up through a conspiracy of all its Parliaments & Coalition
of Silence of all its Mass-Merdia

HONOUR TO INDONESIA And Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
Let 's hope meeting with Georges Bush on the 25 current will bring the
Newmont Mining Criminals to their knees !
Indeed that type of Rabble is not at all sensible to any decent
argumentation, but flogging & beating are the only arguments that hideous &
ignoble type of Villains understand

With kindest regards

DROUGHT THREATENS RARE BLACK COCKATOO POPULATION
Another drought in south-eastern Australia could further threaten the
endangered red-tailed black cockatoo.

A recent count found there are 929 birds living in the border region of
Victoria and South Australia.

Birds Australia biologist Richard Hill says the count was up on last year by
more than 100.

But he says that was probably due to an improvement in the techniques used
to find the birds rather than an indication their numbers are on the rise.

Mr Hill says there is evidence that the last breeding season was a good one
but a drought and pressure from land clearing could see a decline in the
cockatoo population.

"In some places farmers are really keen to clear these scattered trees that
the birds feed in," he said.

"That's really the greatest pressure the birds are under is that sort of
protection of those scattered trees on farmland where a lot of the birds'
habitat remains."

Note
The Black Cockatoos paying the bill too for the Collective Crime, indeed !.
