"Industry Minister Ian Macfarlane says the Government is prepared to set
the target at 32,000 gigawatt hours.
But Labor's environment spokesman, Mark Butler, wants a figure in the
mid-to-high 30,000s and said there would be no deal if the Government
did not lift its offer.
'If that is the Government's final offer it's unacceptable and there
will be no deal on the Renewable Energy Target', Mr Butler said.

Both the Government and the Opposition agreed to exempt the
energy-intensive aluminium industry from the scheme but the concession
will not be actioned unless an agreement is reached on the size of the
target.
The Australian Aluminium Council said it would be forced to pay between
$50 and 80 million if the relevant legislation was not passed by the
March 31.
Unions fear jobs will go in the aluminium sector if a deal is not
reached soon".
